Coin & Co Numismatics buys and sells certified and collector coins, bullion, banknotes and estate collections from Kingston, Ontario.
How we grade
Conservatively, and the same way every time. A coin we call extremely fine is one that most people would call extremely fine, not one we have talked ourselves into. Raw coins are graded by eye and described in plain language, and our opinion is exactly that, an opinion. Certified coins are described as the grading service graded them, never regraded upward in the description.
Where a coin has a problem, we say so. Cleaned, polished, scratched, rim damage, an old repair: it goes in the description. It costs us money on individual sales and it is the only way a dealer is worth buying from twice.
How we price
Against realised sales, not against a printed guide. Guides are a starting point and they lag the market, badly in thin series where a handful of transactions set the level. We work from what comparable coins have actually sold for recently, in the same grade, in the same holder, with the same eye appeal.
Anything bought for metal is priced from live spot at the time of the offer, with the weight, the purity and the arithmetic shown to you.
How we work
By appointment rather than from a shop front, which keeps our costs down and means what we save can show up in what we pay. For collections of any size we travel: across Kingston, and anywhere in Eastern Ontario for an estate.
Every coin we list is in hand and photographed by us. No stock images, no borrowed photographs, no listing of coins we have not seen.
What we sell
Canadian, United States and world coins, certified material in PCGS, NGC and ICCS holders, Royal Canadian Mint proof and specimen sets, gold and silver bullion, banknotes, tokens and estate finds. Inventory turns over continuously, which is also what keeps our pricing honest on the buying side.
Say the problem out loud
Every fault that affects value goes in the description, before the sale rather than after it.
Show the reasoning
A number without an explanation is a number you have no way to check. You get both.
Say when to walk away
If a coin is worth more sold elsewhere, or worth submitting for grading yourself, we will tell you that too.
